Create a refreshing non-alcoholic fruit cocktail using local strawberries, and other fruits. The word shrub is derived from the Arabic word sharab, which means “to drink.” Combine the shrub with club soda and you will have a perfect summer beverage. Alcohol can be included in a drink combination.
After learning about the technique of combining fruit, sugar, and vinegar to compose a shrub, you will be able to experiment with your own ideas. Bring your own strawberries, rhubarb, or other fruit if desired. Total incubation time is about 48 hours before your shrub is ready. Sample shrubs will be served at the class.
