Creating art from plants that grow around us can be an incredibly enriching, empowering, and connective experience.

Kristi will lead you through sustainable plant-dye methods that include discussing fibers, mordants and modifiers, and making dyes, pigments, and inks. You'll have hands-on opportunities to prepare fiber for dyeing and printing, as well as how to make and use dye baths. You'll leave with beautiful dyed pieces capturing this special place we call Lakes Country along with the fundamental knowledge and experience you'll need to dye and print textiles and papers into additional gifts and items.

Items to bring to class if you can (Kristi will have extras): rubber gloves, mask, clothes you don't mind getting dye on, and any additional fibers/textiles you'd like to dye (must be a 100% natural fiber, scoured—wool, cotton, linen, silk).

Also, to capture place, feel free to bring any of the following plant material from around your home:
• Flowers: Black-eyed Susan, marigold, catmint, coreopsis, goldenrod, hydrangea, Staghorn Sumac
• Leaves: Apple, Maple, Oak, Cranesbill Geranium, Wild Grape, Purple Sandcherry, Smokebush, Rose, Serviceberry, Dogwood, Fern
• Berries: Buckthorn, chokecherry

Feel free to contact Kristi at 612-940-5796 with any questions.
